Maciek Jasik is fascinated by the invisible histories embedded between the seeds of our favorite fruits. For example, the fact that the pomegranate was a symbol of life after death in Egypt, or that cauliflower evolved from a wild cabbage.

The Secret Live of Fruits and Vegetables series aims to reintroduce these mystical, invisible qualities to fruits and vegetables that have been lost amidst the clamor of nutritional statistics. Each offers its own indelible powers beyond our narrow habits of thought.

Jasik uses pumpkins, squash, watermelons, and honeydew as his subjects, conjuring the mysterious folklore behind these unassuming flora with a colored smoke flowing from their cores.
